Moturoa Lodge, U.AO.D.

PRESENTATION TO IiKO, A. J. IfcINTOSH. After Um formal business of the Moturoa Lodge, U.A.0.D., had been concluded lust evening, ihe meeting went into harmony, the object being to bid farewell to Bro. A. J. Mcintosh, who has acted as senior trustee to the lodgie. A light repast had been laid, and preparations made (or a social evening' peculiar to this branch of the last-extending order. The guest was welcomed by the strains of "'Hound the Oak." Bro. G. I'. Builot, A.D., occupied the chair, with the guest of (he evening on his right, and ill- A, E. Sykes, co-trustee, on his left. There was a fair attendance, despite the untoward climatic conditions. The proceedings were opened by the loy-al loast of " The King and Druids," proposed by tile chairman, who, after a brief interval, asked the brethren to similarly honour •■' The Grund Lodge of Druids," coupling with' it the name of Bro. 11. Gilbert, who in responding quoted some interesting fuels ii-gaiding the lodge and the ord«*j , diJ Bro. Gilbert proposed " The Guest Hie Evening, Bro. A. J. Mcintosh," who as trustee had 'been of real assistance to the lodge, not a mere figurehead, but a senior trustee of whom any lodge might be proud. On behalf of the members he then presented Bro Mcintosh with u handsomely-framed and illuminated diploma setting forth that lie had been elected a life-member of the lodge. He also handed him a case engraved '■' Presented, to Bro. A. J, Mei jitosih by the Moturoa Lodge, U.A.0.D., August 1904," and containing a handsome silver dessert set.

In replying, Jbo. Mcintosh complimented the lodge on the progress mafic since its inception in 189(1, particularly mentioning Bros. Lister, Gilbert, and Harvey, who were pres.ivt at the first meeting. The success of the lodge had been due, not to mm, but to the supervision exercised by the officers from lime to Mine appointed. He was pleased that in leaving he carried away with him the good fueling of the brethren, but disclaimed any ciedit ; he had simply done his duty, and if he could ever again be of assistance Uie lodge had only to ask. He hoped some day to return and spend an hour in harmony, and -wouldalways cherish the gifts made that evening, as 'they would serve to remind him of many happy days) spent in New Plymouth. ilro. Gilbert proposed " The Founders and trustees of the lodge,'-* the toast being acknowledged by Bros. Harvey, Gilbert, Syfces, Stocker, Lister, Corne.v, and Hullot, all of whom spoke of the great progress of the I order in this district, due to the great benefits offered, the keynote be ing " United to Assist."

Other toasts were " Kindred Societies," proposed by ilro. Harvey, and responded lo by Bro. Staples, on behalf of Uie Loyal Stratford Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M.U., " The First ArchDruid and the present treasurer, Bro. Harvey 1'.D.P.," lesponded to by Bro. Harvoy ; " The incoming senior trustee, Bro. A. E. Sykes " ; "The Press," proposed by Bro. Hobbs, auf) responded k> by Mr Staples (Daily News). During the evening songs and recitations were given by Bros. Hobbs, Ballot, Benjamin, Ferguson, Gilbert, Staples, the accompanist being Bro. Beadle. During the evening Bro. Mcintosh, at the requent of the lodge, presented a Past-Arch's diploma to Bro. F. Movcrley, who suitably thanked mem-Ih.'l-s. . The singing of " Auld Lang Syne" terminated the proceedings, after cheers for the departing guest.
