The rr port of the Labour Commission under Mr Alfred Moeely, which recently visited the United States to inquire into labour conditions there, states that employers in America oiler workmen inducements to extra effort, while employers in England regard them IB machinery. This entitles them to redo.ee wages when earnings are high, while the contrary view is taken in America. The report pronounces that the extreme tpecialisa ion j of labour is a great drawback, causing a strain on and the shortening of tht lives of Americans, whose hours are slightly longer tban those of British workmen.
