Mr W. D. Webster, son of Mr M. M. Webster, of Nelson, and Mr W. Stanford, son of Mr R. L. Stanfordl S.M., been transferred from Hongkong to the Eastern Extension Company's station at ('ocos Island. Jhe Governor left Timaru for Wellington on Friday. It may interest our readers to know that over £61,000,000 are invested in Building Societies in the United Kingdon, al tnouc-h they are of comparative recangrowth. Ninety per cent, of the members are of the working class, a f*ct which speaks for the popularity of these institution's. From what we hear, we think the Provident Building Society will not need to complain oe that score.—Advt.
