Two settlera named Somers and Shearer were crossing the ford on the Waingongoro river between Normanby and Okaiiwa, when the trap they were in overturned, and Somen was drowned, A young lady eaw the accident and went for assistance. When Shearer waa rescued he was in an exhausted condition. The ford is easy under normal conditions, but is dangerou when th 9 river h in flood as at present.
