The annual meeting of the Taranaki Gu«rdti was held on Tuesday evening, aud theie was a large muster of the Company present.
Lieutenant Cooke was sleeted captain, Holmes was elected firs< lieutcnmt, and S"iv<?ant Messenger was e'eated second li-u----tanant. F>r the lat'er position there were thrae oth<<r candidttes—B°rgeants MacDiarmid, T. C. Mill", and Hopkins. Oorpor.il White was chosen for secretary.
