In the House of Commons Mr McNamara, member fo.- Camb rwell, moved an amendment to the Address-in-Reply, urging that provision be made for the better housing of the poor. It was negatived by 158 to 123, though it met with sympathy. Mr W. H. Long, It sident of tbe Local Government Board, promised the appointment of a committee to consider an extension of ihe periods of local loans.
