INVERCARGILL RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
PER PRESS ASSOC rATIOH. Invekcaboill, December 6. The inquest on Frank Thomas, ptatrvK '-vr, who was kilied on Monday nigbt in a collision between a railway tricycle and a special train at Morton j Mains was resumed to-night. The only point of interest wan that Findlay, the driver, sud th<t the engine headlight was burniog when they got to Edendale, beyond the scene of the tccident, that the night was misty, and that m«n on a trolly should c iny a rtd light, but he saw none. Witness said that Fraser, the man injured, remarked in his pri sent state that he saw the engine's light on the top of a bank five miles off and again rounding a curve, but not afterwards. The light could not be lit while the train was running. E. Ferguson, fireman, said he examined the headlight at Edendale, apart from his duty, and took the glas* out because it we 3 smoked ; but thai could not have interfered with the light to any extent. Mr Faris, stationmaster at Edendale, deposed that he heard Fraser, when the doctor was attending him, say there was no headlight or he did not see it. Fraser appeared to be peifdctly sober. The inquest was adjourned to Thursday next.
