NEW PLYMOUTH MUSEUM.

The Town Bind is at present con ducting a series of concerts in order to | raise funds for the Museum, and gave the first on Monday night at Mr W. I Cottier's residence, Carringtonroad. Testerday a deputation from the Band waited upon Mr K. Cock, and requested permission to hali a aimilir concert in his grounds at "Overdale," Vogeltown. Mr Cock has kindly consented 'o do th'isi,'but the will probably be Thursday, 19th ir.st., instead ot the 12',h, which was at first suggested, as it is expected that the fowling Club will be holding a gathering on the latter d»te to welcome Mr Jas. Paul.

A soiall charge will re made for Bdmission to the grounds, and in view of the deserving cause for which the Band is working there will no. doubt be a large uttQcdance. The Museum will shortly be ready to be opened to the public, but the management committee desire that before this is done the small debt of about £lB, which has been incurred for glass cases, etc., should be ez'inguished. Although the collection of the curios has not been long started, a large number are already in the rooms, and are displayed to considerable advantage. .New Plymouth residents will, no doubt, see to it that this worthy institution does not lack the support it merits, nnd that their support will en .ble the Museum to be made a soutce of pride to townspeople and a profitabla enjoyment to visitors.
