MEETING 07 THE EXECUTIVE. FEB PRESS ASSOCIATION. Wellington, August 26. A joint sitting of the executive and legislative committees of the Municipal Association was beld tirday. A suggestion that power be gmn to transfer moneys from separate accounts to general account in repayment of amouafs spent for special pu r pos<'B from the general account, but rot at the time ebown in corporation books as being intended to be advances to eny special account, was disapproved, as was a suggestion for making the system of allocation of general rates between bTO-iph and ward works optional instead of cnmpt»l?6ry. Objections were received from New Plymouth, Ashburtnn, and Oamaru fo section 316 of the Municipal Corporations Art, 1900, requiring borough councils to nuke goci the los* where uninsured or only partially injured buildings and other properti'B are pulled down or destroyed in order to prevent the sprrad of fire. It was re c o'ved thit the loss ought to fall on the owner?, insurance companic?, acd borough councils in equal ebarts.
