A great Are occurred at the Grieehien elfctra chf mical works near Frankfort-on-Maioo. Two terrific explosions ef vats tontaining piericacid, used in the manufacture of smokeless powder; took p'ace apd the flames spread rapidly, leaping across (no river Mnine, and enveloped the village of Schwanheim. A hundred persons w*re killed and injured. Heceived 27, G.lO p.m. The inhabitants of GriesWeim and the vicinity fled, expecting an explojsipn of the reservoir containing half a ! million litres of berzino.
