LAND BOARD.
The Land Board met on Monday.' Present: „Messrs, Stnucben (Chairmaif), Kelly, Stock, Hsslop, and Battenbury. Land applied for since last meeting was as follows:—seotion 11, block 13, Mimi, G. F. Sole and A. W. Swinbonrn 395 acres, 0.r.p., section 7, block 5, Kapara, Karilius Lwsen, 1213 acres, 1.i.p., sections 49, 51, 168, block 13, Pouatu, Ansleu Framba, 273 acres, 3r. Bp,, o.r.p. An application by A. C. Bell for his purchase of seotion 5, block 12, Omomi, to be completed in the name of Mary Bell was declined,
After considering a memo from the Surveyor-General, relative to .transfer of leases of Improved Farm Settlement holdings, it was decided that such leasaa must be held for 12 months before a l transfer can be granted. Consent was given to the following transfers iJMessrs. Myers and Myrrp, to A. Blake and 0. K. McCartie of section 8, block 6, Pouatu; R. and E, Mason, ta Margaret and Agnes Brodie, sections 1 and 2, block 14, Ngatimaru (exemption from personal residence bring granted). The following applications for transfer were declined: T. Anderson to W. L. Tocker, sections 3 and 4, bleek 5, Ngatimaru, W. Sparrow, to G. Becker, section 24, block 10, Ngatimaru; 0. Bennett to 0. Eamsay, section 12, block 12, Huiroa; F. Baker to D. Laing, Beotion 3, bleck 12, Waitara, D. G. 0. Kelly to L. Terry, section 30, block 13, Pouatu. Gn notification that the Minister of Lands was not concerned in the transfer from the Public Trustee in the Estate of G. "W. Gane (deceased), ta W. Field, it was ordered that the transfer be confirmed.
Permission was given to 0. Kibblewhite to subdivide and transfer a portion of section 17, black 3, Ngatimaru, to Thomas Moody, An application by the executors of Thos. Morrow deceased, to transfer section 87, block 1, Opunake, to fhos. Morrow, was agreed to. Freeholds were granted to Thos. Morrow, section'B7, block 1, Opunake, sniPheobo Rebecca Fetch, section 11, block 11, Huiroa. A Grown grant was ordered to be issued to Jas. Pratt, of section 47, Tarata.
In reply to a request by the Grown Lands Ranger, it was deoided that his inspection and value of all blocks offered for sale be effected before the Surveyor leaves the ground, E, McLoughlin wrote asking why he ma disqualified as a transferee of A. Fhilaa'a section 6, block 10, Pouatu. Tho Board reconsidered its previous decision and the majority approved of the transfer,
The following proposals by Riad Board's for expenditure of thirds were afirreed to. Patea East, £2O 7s 7d; Moa, £2BO Us4d; Waimate, £127 17s 7d. Hawera County Counoil, £slloalod.
A request by W. J. Murphy for the money to be spent in paying Off liis share of the Newallßaad loan, could not oa entertained.
I Three monthsjleaye of absence from section 15, block 5, 17, block 10 and 2, 3, block 9. iNgatimaru, was granted to J.B. Hine, who waited on the Board and asked for 12 months leave. A letter was received from D. Wildermoth, on behalf of 40 settlers at Whangamomona, asking that a site for a public hall be taken from section 66, block 14, Fouatu, the occupier being willing. The Board consented on condition that a survey be submitted.
Section 18, block 16, Hmroa, held by Bobert Johnston, was declared forfeited for non-complianoo with conditions.
A plan and schedule of 37 sections in the village of Mangaohiku, as surveyed by Mr. Morpeth, were laid on the table. The prices as recommended were adopted and the reserves approved. A plan and schedule of 22 sections in the village of Pnniwhakau, also surveyed by Mr. Morpeth, wore also laid on the table, ths prices adopted and the reserves approved; the sale of the sections to be by public auction for cash, but to be delayed until the bridge over the Mangaebu is erected. A plan and schedule of 6 sections in block 3, 7 and 11, Upper Waitara, as surveyed by Mr. Murcott, were laid on the table together with the Rpger/s_ report. The prices sagge3teoT were, adopted, and with the exception of section 10, block 3, which is to be set apart as a primary Education Reserve, Che lands are to be osered for sale or selection.
Arthur Maurica was grintad an ex tension of time for efl'ooting improvements on section 4, block 10, Pouatu. Tho Commissioner was authorised to issue leases, as p<* liar, to cert.«in improved farm settler*. \ Section 3, block 9, Ngatimaru, is to be re-valued and oifdrcd for selection or sale.
J. J. Chapman applied for valuation for improvements on section 8, block 13, Mimi, formerly surrendered. Tho amount is to be paid over to him lean expenses of rocovery of ront. Wm. Lawler's application to lease seotion 28, block ID, Ngrtimaru, was declined.
A refund of rent, applied for by C. B. M'ior, on convoraion of SMtioM 1 and 7, block 8, Huiroa, *m grantod, Tho Hanger report el that there whs no graved oo secti n 132, block 8. Capo, arid h was decided to n*k the Government to remove the roservitioo.
Mr, Townshend's application to sublet section 26, bloakH, Oapo, to Mr. Bartle for 5 years at £35 per annum, was granted, P. MoGb.ee having paid arrears ef rent for seotion 18, block 2, Omana, declared foif-ited, the forfeiture ma reminded and three months extoneion granted to effect deficient improvementr. Mr. W. S. Young ib to bo called upon to completo the division of section 98, block 5, Waimate, forthwith. The interest of E. Thomas in suction 19 block 4, Oniats, was deolared forfeited owing to arrears of rent and non-compliance with residence coadi ti'jus.
