[PBB PBBSS ASSOCIATION.] "Wellington, November 10. The police raided a Chinese house in Haioing-street last night, and surprised thre i men in the act of drawing a lottery. About £3O in cash was found on thom. One constable was threatened by a Chinaman as the police party approached the house, and another had his head grazed by a stone. A large and anary crowd assembled, and the constables had a difficulty in getting the prisoners and paraphernalia away from the phoe, The acoused were before tho Court this mornng and remanded till 14 h ms r . The Def-nc > Department is solecting six non commissioned of the Permanent Artillery to undergo a year's training in gunnery in England; four from the Wellington corps and one each from Auckland and Dunedin.
