MR. J. BELLRINGER "WELCOMED" BY THE 1.0.0. F.
JTeere was a large attendance of the members of the Manchester Unity of the Independent Order of Oddfellows at the luncheon, held in the Foresters Hall, on Friday, 9th inst., for the parpose of according a welcome to the Prov. O.S. of the Now Plymouth District, Bro. James Bellringer, on his return from England. The chair was occupied by the Prov. G.M., Bro. A. 0. Case, on his right was the guest, and Da his left His Worship the Mayor »od Mr. E. M. Smith, M.H.R. Justice having been done to , the good things provided, the usual toasts were honored. Tlifl Chairman proposed the toast of ; ' The Parliament of Nsw Zealand," to which Mr. E. M. Smith, M.H.R,, roipiijjdad. In proposing the toast of : * OuyPro. O.S. Bro. James Bellringer," which was enthusiastically received, ;he Chairman referred to the fact that ! or twenty-five years Brother Bellringer had bnan the District JSesretary. During that long period many changes las taken place, and reforms of wide 'caching importance had been made, "esulting in progress and prosperity to ;he order. There had been an increase 'mm three lodges with 200 members, o 8 lodges with 650 members, and iboat £12,000 in the funds. He said ;hat the district and lodges had baneitted hrgely through the Secretary's 'ipe experience aud advice, and in order ;o mark their appreciation of hia long md valuud services the District meetng at Hawera appointed a Committee io arrange for a presentation of soma ioken as a mark of the esteem and ■espect in which Bro. Bellringer was lelci by the members.
