SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.
The School Commissioners met on Friday. Present: Messrs. R. Cock
(chairman), Wade, Faull, and Stock. Mr. Samuel advised that the land offered to the Education Boird for a school site by Mr. McCluggage, being held under lease in perpetuity, the Commissioners had no power to acquire it. Mr. Samuel also reported 011 titles to blocks 48 and 53, Raleigh East. Mr. Samuel's report as to section 63, Manganui, required by the Stratford Borough Council for cemetery purposes, is to be forwarded to the Council. Mr. Samuel also reported on the title of the land adjoining the Central School, known as St. Michael's Square, which it is proposed should be acquired for school purposes. A copy of the report is to bo sent to the Education Board.
Mr. MeAllum, agent for Mr, George, is to bo informed that the Board is not inclinod to go further in the matter of tho proposed oxclmngo of properties oil the Town licit. The Btratfoid Borough Council is to be notified that the Commissioners, as tho owners of the freehold of sections 68 and 64, block 1, Ngaire, expect to be consulted before any arrangements are entered into with regard to laying water mains through their properties.
