NEW PLYMOUTH SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

A; MEETiNa-- < bf the New Plymouth Suhool Committee was held on Monday evening, Mr. W. A. Qollis presiding. A resolution was passed drawing the attention of the Education Board to their action in granting Miss Arrow leave of absence on her'own application insiead of through the channel laid down in the Board's regulation. A further resolution was passed drawing Miss Arrow's attention to the irregularity, and requesting her to opply foi leavj in accordance with regulation 31. The sub-cummitkeappoiutad to consider the question of stationery for the town schools reported that, after discussing the question with Mr. Damp-s-iy, they recoinmoud that a levy of sixpence p.<r quarter be nude, payable bj all children above the second standard, such levy to cover all ost of iuks (bkek and read),pons, slate-p9ncils, and lead-pencils, the foolscap tablets to be provided by the children themselves, and that this levy come into force on the schools re-opsning in January, 1901, with a maximum charge oE one shilling and sixpence per quarter for each family of thre or over.
