STRATFORD NOTES.
(FRO3I OUR OWN COJtUESI'ONDEXT.) An unfortunate accident, which occasioned a good deal of inconvuuionco to the people of Stratford, happened on Saturday night, when tho Electrical Supply Company's dam was carried away. It will take some little while to repair the damago, and in the meantime we have to fall back on kerosene. The occurrence points to the necessity of the Company providing a steam engine or a system of storage batteries, to be used in case of a similar mishap. The Mayor's dance in tho new Municipal Buildings was, I understand, a very successful aflair, the two large rooms upstairs being crowded. The large new boarding-houso, the Trocadero, is now nearing completion. It is a pity so line a building dojß not front the main street.
Aa showing the confidence our citizens have in the progress of the borough, it is stated that one settle) alone applied for and obtained X4OOO •f the borough debentures. Other large parcels, I understand, are being subscribed locally. This is as it should be. The more of the borough interest paid to people who live in Che borough the better.
