[I>KU WIKSS ASSOCIATION.] Du.vedin, August IS. Marth Smith, nb3ut 35 years of age, was caught in between two fora fires on tho Ihrnego settlement, at Hillend, near Bilclufcha, yesterday. She was found by bcr husband, when returning t7om work, fearfully burned and liftextinct. She had only been married seven weeks. Wellington, August 19. The body of an elderly man was found in the Hutt River this afternoon. It had evidently been in the water somo time. The remains are not yet identified, and no one is known to be missing from tho district. Deceased is believed to be identical with a swagger who was tramping the Hutt district, begging for food, a few weeks ago. That unfortunate was a fireman who had left one of the Home boats. Ghristchubch, August 19. A man named John Olansy, single, employed by J. M. Heywood <L 00. as carter, died in the hospital this morning from injuries received by falling from the lotc of a stable where he was in the habit of sleeping. Aa inquest takes place to-morrow.
