News from Tokaar.u states that an [extinct cooking hole of the natives on the edge of the Tokaanu Creek became very active on Sunday, and threw up mud and boiling watertwentyor thirty feet. Tuis subsided after a few minutes, giving place to a force of steam, shooting into the air with a roar which was heard a great distance. After a few minutes thi* also su sided. The mountains have been unusually noisy for some days, but the weather was too thick to allow of investigation.
