HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

A meeting of the New Plymouth Horticultural Society was held in the Borough Council Chambers on Monday night, when there was a fair attendance. Mr. W. Ambury occupied the chair. The annual report and balance-sheet were read and adopted. The latter showed a debit balance of £2i.

It was decided to hold a spring show on December 6th.

It was resolved that it be a recommendation to the incoming oommittee that a chrysanthemum show be held in the autumn.

It was decided to hold a bulb show in conjunction with the forthcoming Industrial Exhibition at St, Mary's school, which is to take place early in September. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows President, Mr. W. Bewley; Vice-presi-dents, Archdeacon Govett, Rev. F. G. Evans, Drs. Leatham, Walker, Home, and McCleland, Messrs. E. Dockrill, Newton King, W. L. Newman, R. Qock, Hal Goodacre, W. Ambury, W. Skinner, and J. 0, George j Secretary, Mr. E. F. Halse; Trustee and Treasurer, Mr. H. R, Catdey. Mr. Oattley was also appointed delegate to represent the society at the annual conference of Horticultural Societies, which takes place at Stratford shortly.
