AUCKLAND NEWS.

[PEE press association.] Auckland, March 28. The Woodside estate, formerly the property of the Loan and Mercantile Co., recently purchased by Mr. J. Knight, of Wairarapa, has again changed hands. The estate contains 1640 acres. The price paid by Mr. Knight was £Z 10s, and he has just sold the place to the Hon. Hugh Mossman, the well-known sportsman, at £6 per acre, netting about .£4OOO over the transaction. Dr. Alice Woodward has been appointed bacteriologist and pathologist it the district hospital. Thera were thirty-three applicants for the post of lady-assistant to the Town Olerk of the Djvonport Borough Council. The Hospital and Charitable Aid Board agree to the eight hours system for nurses, when accommodation is provided for the additional nurses required.
