THE BALMAIN COLLIERY ACCIDENT.

* [PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received 23, 1.35 a.m.) Sydney, March 22. At the enquiry into the Balmain accident, the evidence failed to throw any light as to the cause. The survivor only knew that there was a sudden bump, and that he found himself in the basket alone. The Inspectors deposed that they had never seen a better equipped or more carefully worked shaft. Solutions suggested were that the men attempted to change places, or one became suddenly ill A verdict of Accidental Death was returned, the jury adding a rider that all men using shafts should undergo periodical medical examinations. j _ -^
