LAND BOARD.

The Land Board met on Mod day. Present: Messrs. Kelly, Stock, Heslop, and Ooutts. In the absence of the Chief Commissioner Mr. Kelly presided.

The following applications for land were approved :—Section 11, block 3, Ngatimaru, 0. Kibblewhite, 100 acres, 0.r.p.; and section 7, block 10, Pouatu, J. E. McCormick, 15 acres, 1. in p. Consent to transfer was grauted to J. and M. ELenby to M. Henby, section 12, block 15, Ngatimaru; C. Groom and M. Moroney to 0. Groom, section 10, block 16, Ngatimaru. Consideration of an application from Mesdames Dawes and Grantham to transfer equal portions of section 45, block 11, Ngaire, to B. Dawes, was postponed for production of a sketch of proposed division.

Freeholds were granted to R. Benefield, section 49, block 10, Huiroa; M. Brophy, sections 6 and 7, block 8, Cape, Permission was given to M, J. MacReynolds to sublet section 12, block 2, Opunake, to Reuben O'Dell for 5 years, from August 22, 1899. Correspondence was read from the Surveyor-General relative to section 16, block 15, Ngaire Forest Reserve, The Board recorded an opinion that unless the reserve was intended as a nursery for raising forest trees it was unfit for a forest reserve, and should be put up for tale.

On the application of D. G. O'Kelly, the gr*nt of a right-of-way through his section made to the occupier of section 28, block 13, Pouatu, was rescinded. John Coombridge was allowed a month's extension to build on section 12, block 11, Opunake. After considering the report of the Road Inspector on the Mangapona T.F. Settlement, it was decided that notice be served on the persons concerned to show cause agiinsb forfeiture. Thos. Falconer's application for use of the house on the Mokau Road formerly occupied by John Scott was com plied with, the rent to be 2s per week. Six' months extension was granted to William Lawler to comply with conditions of residence on section 6, block 16, Ngatimaru. Permission was given to F. Baxter to agist his neighbour's stock on section 11, block 15, Waitara.

Mr. A. Raid Waited on the Board relative to forfeituro of section 19, block 13, Pouatu, and asked permission to select other land under Part 111. The Board upheld the forfeiture, Mr. Rsid being at liberty to apply fo«-other land.

I Mr. Stock gave notice of motion for | the next meeting—" That Patrick John White be called upon to show cause why section 44, block 14, Pouatu, held by him in Whangamomona I.F. Settlement, should not be forfeited for a breach of section 19 of the regulations, as a result of the recent proceedings against him for illicit selling of liquor, Ino other course being open to the I Board." The Board rose.
