TIME NOT OPPORTUNE

LARGE-SCALE MIGRATION SCHEME Farmers’ Union Opinion Press Association —Copyright. Wellington, May The opinion that the time was not opportune for New Zealand to adopt a large scale immigration policy was expressed by the Dominion executive of the Farmers’ Union to-day. Delegates favoured a system by which selected boys and girls would be brought to the Dominion along the lines of the Flock House scheme. It was pointed out that if some such arrangement was made it would result in a supply of these migrants being available in a year or two”s time and going gradually into employment without in any way disturoing the labour marked. Delegates also pointed out that boys and girls in their early teens were more adaptable to life in a new country than older migrants.
