Car’s Plunge Over Bank. Waihi, March 18. A man. his wife and two children had a miraculous escape when a motor car plunged over a bank on the Hikurangi Gorge road. The car turned a complete somersault an landed on its wheels 20ft. below’ the road and a few feet from the edge of the Hikurangi Stream. The top of the car. which was driven by Mr. A. W. Exlund, was crushed in two* doors were wrenched off, while the windscreen w r as shattered. The accident was caused by some cigarette ash getting in Mr. Exlund’s eye when he was endeavouring to give way to another car which was coming up behind, the driver of . which was loudly sounding his horn.
