INSPECTOR’S POWERS.
Highways Board Defines Position. Replying to the Stratford Borough Council’s request for a warrant of approval enabling Inspector A. E. Sayers to continue to act as traffic inspector in the Stratford borough, the Transport Department, in a letter read at last night’s meeting, pointed out that attention had been drawn to a report to the council by Inspector Sayers. "It is unfortunate the inspector did not seek the advice of this department before submitting his report,” continued the letter. “The legal posi tion is not as he stated. The Main Highways Board proposes to continue its policy of co-operating with and assisting all local authorities in the control of traffic, and it appreciates the reciprocity shown in the past.” The issue of a certificate to Inspector Sayers would be arranged, it was stated.
