ROAD BOARD.

SUBURBAN NORTH

The monthly meeting of the above board was held on the 13th inst. Members present: Messrs. J. Oorder (chairman), A. Stagg, E. W. Frost, and T. AY. Anderson. Messrs A. Dodson and W. Flower were excused from attendance.

The overseer's report was read. He reported that he had visited Wangamca and found the road in better order than it had been for some time past, the surface "having improved considerably. The washout on Elizabeth creek road had been repaired. This road was now in good order. He had given the dayman of this section instructions to clean out watertables and clear all culverts from A. D. Bird's to Elizabeth creek road, also to cut air overhanging scrub. A small amount of metal patching had been done on Teal Valley road, also watertables cleaned out in a few places. The road leading to Cable Bay~required a little attention, several small land slips having come down during the late heavy rain. The dayman was instructed to clear the road of all .slips, to clear all culverts, and to put the road in good order generally. As directed, Mr Anderson, Mr. Stagg and the overseer made an inspection of the bridge in Todd's _ Valley, and after carefully examining the old structure the members of the board were of opinion that a, new bridge was necessary. They recommended that with the approval of the board a new bridge be built, material to be used, concrete and stones for walls, with reinforced concrete top. The work of widening the road in Todd's Valley near the' recreation ground was completed with the exception of a few loads of metal.

A memo, was received from the clerk of the Waimea Comity Council, advising the board of the payment of £55 to the board's credit at the Bank of New South "Wales, being third instalment of 1918-19 rates.

A communication was received from the Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington, to the effect that the registration of dop-s now a.pplie.s to Maori dogs as well as European dogs.
