TRIBUTE TO ANZACS.
CHIVALROUS SOLDIERS.
The New Zealand and Australian mounted troops in Palestine won the highest praise for their splendid valour right throughout the campaign, &nd no less than their valour in battle was their chivalry to the people of the country. A'tribute'to them has been received in the form of a letter addressed to the editor of the "Auckland Weekly News," from'a farmer at Richonle Zion a's follows ':•—
"Happy Christmas, Happy New Year, N*ew Zealand and Australian troops (Anzac) camped at Richonle Zion. Palestine! llsceive, s gentlemen, testimonies of our highest human gratitude* we owe you as our redeemers. How many kindnesses you showed us during your stay at Richonle Zion. Permit us, you noblest and bravo sons of New Zealand and Australia, to assure you of the sentiments of our hearts and" of the esteem and veneration with which we will always hold you. \Vc wish you all well. We wish you a safe and peasant life. -■
"To the mothers, fathers, brethren, and sisters of the loving young sons of New Zealand j who laid down their lives for the sanctification of the Divine Name, .-upon the fields of RichonkrZion, we say:—-May the Father of mercies remember them for good, with the other righteous of the world; O Lord who healesfc the broken-hearted and. bindest up their wounds, grant Thy consolation unto the mourners. "
