At the preliminary gathering Sir James Allen was cordially j welcomed by the travellers. Br. Ches- [ son. gave* a talk on health hints, recommending useful precautions, such as voluntary physical drill parade every morning under the, direction of the Dunedin instructor. A large number of books dealing with the South Pacific are on board, and members are also obtaining information from officers of the Islands administration who are returning. They thus hope the better to fgraspthe Island problems on.arrival. An excellent cinema display was given or, Wednesday evening of" scenes of Island life. They expect to reach Rarotonga on-the morning of the 24th.
