There arc many reasons why (fOn Trial," the great lirst National melodrama, featuring Barbara Castleton, Sydney Ainswovth, and- little Mary Mc--1 Alister, should be classed as one of the greatest dramatic achievements of the screen in 1919. First, it is an adapta<tion of a stage drama that met with world success, written by an author who is world famous, Second, the mime of First National is a guarantee that it has • outstanding merits, that exchange only releasing those pictures which have that 1 qualification. Third, the stars are the possessors of front rank reputations, gained by long and meiitorous service.
