A case in which a young woman employed by Waters, Ritchie, and Co. was charged with making an erroneous declaration to the Customs Department came before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M., in the Police Court to-day, when Flora MucDonald was charged that she did unlawfully make a certain declaration under the Customs Act, 1913, which wis erroneous within the meaning of section 211 of that Act, and contrary to the iiina of the- statute. The nrra of Waters, Ritchie and Co. tvrerc i-nuiiariv charged. The ri"l Mac Donald, who was authorised b v tho linn to pass Customs entries on behalf of the firm, waa fined £25, and the firm was mulcted in a similar amount.
