i Christchurch, Dec. 18. The Aldington market sale to-day being a double oue in view of Christmas was marked by very heavy entries, particularly -of fat sheep and lamos there | being-ten races of sheep, compared wjfch seven at the previous sale, and 3obJ lambs as against 1240. The sale lasted; until nearly 10 p.m. There was a iarge entry of shorn sheep with a spiritless! sale which, however, improved as it pro- J greased.- Backward lines were hard toj iqiut. Ordinary .two-tooth wethers, 19s j |7d to 22s 6d: good two-tooth wethers,! 23b 3d, 29s 3d: two, four, and six-tooth J wethers, 265, 30s 6d; four, six and* eight-tooth wethers, 275, 30s 3d; ordin-j nfy two-tooth ewes 20s 3d, 23s 6d; good two-tooth ewes, 255, 29s 3d; soundmouth woolly ewes, 375; sound and fail-ing-mouth ewes and lambs, 17s Id, 21s lOd: two, four, and six-tooth ewes, 345. The fat lamb sale opened, in spite or the iarge entry, at rates nearly on a par with the preceding sale, but as butchers' requirements were met the demand eased very markedly, prime sorts showins; a decline of about 3s per head and medium 5s on the preceding sale.
