'Hie P. and O. report states that the company has contracted with Harland and Woolff to supply five steamers suitable for the Australian immigrant and cargo service via the Capo. The vessels will be of 13,800 tons displacement, and will be called the Baiiarat, Bulranald, Baradine, Barrabol, and Bendigo.

The P. and O. Line has also contracted with Armstrong's for, a mail steamer of 15,800 tons. The passenger steamers will burn oil.

After placing £450,000 to the contingent fund for overhauling steamers badly knocked about in the war, and £200,000 to reserve, the company has a credit balance of £651,457. It carried forward £115,230.
