RURAL EDUCATION.
Wellington, Oct. 15. i At the Councirof ■Agriculture to-tlay, several speakers stressed the importance 'of efficient rural education, and a remit was adopted recommending, the■ Department of Agriculture'to extend the principle of instruction to farmers by itinerant instructors. The Director-General of Agriculture pxnlnined that the department was thoroughly in sympathy with tbp wishes of the conference in this direction, and had the matter under consideration. A difficulty lay in procuring the right class of instructors to undertake the work. The department was at present making .inquiries for"'suitable men both within the Dominion and abroad.
