The Minister states: "We nave had the whole matter very thoroughly investigated by the Defence Department, and, in view of the report received, i am satisfied that there is no necessity for a Royal Commission.'' He adds that, as soon as he receives a little further information which he has asked for, a detailed statement will be made. iXwcuring to the Minister's letter, Mr E. Jb\ Andrews, secretary to the Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association, said the Association was by no means reassured by the Ministers statement, and, in view of the nature of the report by its representatives, it would still press for a full investigation of the whole matter, lie udu^d that if the Government had nothing to hide there was no reason why lu-suuiud not accede to the association's request.
