A meeting of the Korere-Motupiko branch of the Farmers' "Union was held at Korere on May 31st, Mr Arthur Kerr vice-president, in the chair. There was n good attendance. It was decided to defer consideration of finaucial organisation proposed by Mr Wilkinson; also the consideration of the of. elecigye executive, on account of the address to be given by VJ r W. H. Warren on "Co-operation." It was .decided to await future dejvelopments before again considering the {question of an accelerated train service 'at least,one morning a week. . ..A ;^Piy ."was received from the Comjmissioner ;of Taxes, -expressing. the jODinion that it.was not. feasible to pro•VMle all post offices with land and in:[come tax forms. It was resolved that j the Commissioner be urged to more evenly distribute the forms, so that nil offices might have a few, and not only money order offices. Mr T. Wilkinson evoked a discussion on the County Council's motor-tax, the ooinion being- expressed that legislation j should provide tor a univei'sal tyre-tax ( in place of a mot-or-car tax just affectiDp ono district, which was considered l\v many as being unfair. Mr Macmahon explained that the tax aid noi come int-.-operation for another year, during whici it was hoped the Government would take some action. A motion that tea or coffee stiould be provided by the union at meetings was and it was decided to donate £'1 to the Korere School towards nurobnso of crockery for public use. Members are to provide their own refroshments if wanted.
