A Serbian.official report states: —

Despite strong resistance, we readied the right, bank of the Toplitza river and the massif of Selitchivitza. Our cavalry occupied Zitnitotok. We. took many prisoners and captured three field guns.

A French Eastern communique sta tes:—The Allies continued their progress northwards. The Serbians came into contact south of Nish with big German forces, including Alpine corps units. After.'teavy fighting the Serbians reached the river Toplitza, fifteen kilometres south of Nish, capturing tluve gims.
