AN AUSTRALIAN'S COURAGE!

Sowden, of the 45th Battalion,; who was -wounded in the foet and arms, while in hospital in France submitted himself for tie transfusion of a pint and a half of blood to another Australian. This is the only successful transfusion in that hospital during the Avar. Sir 'Douglas Haig has congratulated Private Sowden, and Mr Fisher (High Commissioner for Australia) is recommending the Commonwealth to recognise his courage.
