»pu -.- -Wellington, Oct. 3. lne position of payments made by dairy factories on account of the but-ter-fat levy up to September 30th was explained by Mr Massey in the House ot .Representatives as follows:—Total amount paid by factories, £306,257----amount refunded to factories, compensation for butter sold for local consumption, £215,198; amount still remaining in the fund, £91,059. The [distribution of the balance of £91,059, I less a sufficient sum to be kept in hand to meet emergencies, will be dealt with by the licensing authority and thy Board of Trade on.October 3rd. Further payments will be made practically disposing of the balance remaining in the fund.
