FARMERS APPEALS.
vu \m Chrlstohurcli, Dec. 12. _1 he Military Semes Board sat at •£aiapoi to-day to hear two aopeals. Hethermgton Rice and Leslie Bice, farmers, of Kaiapoi, appealed on the ground of undue hardship. The evi-dc-nce showed that the appellants were single and worked a farm of 112 acres, ir-ey had financial obligations, and found it difficult, to get labour The-chairman (Mr J. S. Evans, S M ) remarked that the board had received a report stating that there was no scarcity of labour in the Canterbury military district, except in the . sawmillingtratie in Nelson and on the West Coast.
Leslies" appeal was dismissed, and Hethenngton's was adjourned until .Leslie has been medical! v examined if Leslie is passed, Hetlierington's appeal will be allowed.
