The Distinguished Conduct Medal has been awarded to the following New Zea-
landers: —
Sergeant Birnie, Ist Battery, for conspicuous gallantry on four occasions, when he did fine work in serving the gun and replacing emplacements under heavy fire. ...
Rifleman Dickey, ;4th Battalion, for conspicuous gallantry tinder heavy fire. His gun missed,'fire, when, ordering the nien under cover, he unscrewed the fuse, the flames actually issuing from the vent, but he succeeded in his plucky "act. He is a Maori and has always shown great bravery
Sergeant-Major Ibbotsbn, of the Howitzer Battery, for good, work in carrying out his duties as section commander and as an observer, in the absence of officers, who"were injured.
