The official account of Lieutenant MarchaPs flight across Germany states that he left Nancy in a special monoplane at 9.30 on the evening or June 20th with petrol for a 14-hours J flight. His mission was to traverse the country at a low altitude and drop proclamations in Berlin. He was then to land in Russia. He flew all night and alighted at Kholm owing to a. defect. The proclamation dropped in Berlin stated, "We could have bombarded the city and killed women and children. We content ourselves with dropping the proclamation.
Lieutenant Marchal was interned at Salzerbach.
