' Wellington, 3 fay .8 % ' Tho Fruitgrowers' Federation's National Patriotic -Apple Exhibition-m tho Wellington Town lial), which is to bo opened on Tuesday by tho Minister for j Agriculture, is imposing in. extent and a splendid advertisement. Port Albert, Nolson, Hawkc's Bay, Otago. and Canterbury have entered for tho competition for tho best court. A preliminary inspection indicates a likelihood of keen competition. The Nelson court has a fine situation alongside the- main entrance, it has a frontage of SOft, and a colour scheme w;. red iiiid whit? hrvs beon admirably carried out. The interior stalls arc iiccossible to the public. .Gradinej, packmg] and coring operations are to bo conducted and xhis is likely to be a great attraction, as tho public are always interested in anything in motion. The three hundred cases included in . this exhibit have all been attractively ro-packed. Nelson c;rovers have largely contributed fnuVfor tho a.pple pie competition promoted by tho Mayoress of Yvelhugton. ' • ~.,..' The Agricultural Department's exhibit includes specimen cases of Italian and Ciilifdrniun lemons and Rarotongan oranges in tho original packages; affording valuable object lof^-c-ns. The exhibition of apples on plates :* so extensive that it requires twelve hundred r-lates to show tho entries. Rortons Ltd. ha-i'e a non-competitive exhibit. An apple show so extensive has never been seen in New Zealand before. The results of tho fifty competitions connected with tho show will probably 'be. known on Wednesday.
