"The Appam was one of the. ElderDempster Line's show boats . and was splendidly fitted, her Equipment including wireless telegraphy. Captain Harrison was one of the best known West African navigators. ■

Tho vessel left Dakir on the 11th and was last seen on the 14th. The boat picked up is quite new, and capable of carrying 40 people. It was probably damaged by a passing steamer hitting it in the darkness.

A search revealed no -wreckage in the vicinity of the boat.

• The'company suggest that as one boat was afloat others may- have been picked up by passing vessels.
