for the session. Mr Seddon is now in the training camp at Palmerston North where he is qualifying for a position as a non-commissioned officer. He will probably 'be attached to the Eighth Reinforcements, but should he qualify for a commissioned officer's rank, he will doubtless join" tie Ninth. In any case, it will, be well towards the end of tho year before he will be leaving New Zealand, m which event he will obtain leave probably in October or November to visit the .Westland electorate, and say au revoir to his constituents.
Mr Vere Wyke, who was for several years chief reporter of the "Hawke's bay Herald," .arid ' joined the literary staff of the "Tribune" 18 months ago, lias been appointed Napier manager for the "Tribune." Mr John Canner, who has for some time been in charge of the commercial department of the "Tribune," is shortly leaving lor the Old Country with the "intention of enlisting in Kitchener's Army.
Sub-lieutenant A. W. St. Clair Tisoall (R.A. Cambridge), the son of the Rev, Dr. St. Clair Tisdall, who was ordained in th© Nelson diocese and was atone time \icar of Wakefield, was killed m the Dardanelles on May 9. Ho took his B.A. degree with double firstclass honours, and the Chancellor's gold medal in 1913. He received his commission to th© R.N.D. on October 1, 1915, and went through the Antwerp Expedition. He had a great talent for languages, aivi both" at Antwerp and m the Mediterranean he acted as interpreter. Much sympathy will ba felt with Dr and Mrs Tisdall in their befea v ement.—-' 'Nelson Diocesan Magazine."
