RED CROSS COMMITTEE.

Tne Red Cross Committee met yesterday afternoon in the Haeremai Tea Rooms, the meeting being well attended.

The members of the committee were pleased to welcome Mrs Lock, who had just returned ' from her holiday and took her place as chairwoman. Final arrangements were made for the street collection on Saturday, June sth, when those who have offered to collect are asked to be at Hallensteins' room to receive their boxes not later than 10 a.m. Red ribbon badges are to be given to contributors. Those collectors who were present were appointed to collect at stated places, and others will be given their places on Saturday morning.

It was resolved that Mr Cecil King and Mr Robison be asked to count the collection money at 9.30 p.m., and that the result up to that hour be then shown in the window of tho depot, Hallensteins' room.

The secretary, Miss Wilton, resigned her position owing to pressure of other duties, Mrs Pharazyn and Miss Tornlinson being appointed joint secretaries in her place. In sending .money to the* British Rod Cross Society, London, in future, the wish will be expressed that it be expended for the New Zealand men. if the need exist.

Mrs King was authorised to expend up to £H(), if necessary, for supplies for another Red Cross chest.

Mr Tom Falve.y, of the Lyric Theatre, had generously donated to the Red Cross Fund the proceeds of Monday night's entertainment, for which he was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. v Miss Gilkison's offer to provide tea for the collectors on Saturday was accepted with thanks,, as also was Miss i Farnie's offer to collect at the golf links. Miss Gosling donated 81b of ether, which was gratefully accepted, it be--•rto; deoidnd that this be given to the hospital ship. j . 1 !j« following new members were added to the committee :—Mrs Humphreys, Bishop Mules, Dr. Mackay, Dr. s ueas, Dr. Rr.rr, Dr. Washbourn, Dr. Jeffreys, and Captain Robinson.
