A message received by the Governor from the Secretary of State for the Colonies covers the same ground as Mr Asquiih's statement already published, but Tneiitions in ..addition that the losses included Brigadier-General Napier. On April 27th the troops had advanced about two miles from the landing puinb. aud had .been joined by the French from tho Asiatic side. The Australian and New Zealand forces were then gaining steadily.
