OUTBREAK J.V BRIDGE STREET.

A fire broke out about ten o'clock last .right in _the roar portion of a boarding-house in Bridge street owned and cecuuicd by Mr P. McGrath. The occupants of the premises had all retired,, and the flames, were first obj.ervyfi by Mr Brooker, night-watch-man, who was in the vicinity and gave the itiarm. The outbreak had occurred in an outside kitchen, and fortunately bad not gained a strong hold when discovered. Tho Fire Brigade reached the scene very promptly, and a few minutes' work sufficed to _ dispose of all danger to the main bnildiug and tlw adjoining premises, the flames being confined to the kitchen. The contents of the house suffered some damage from water and it- hasty removal. Tho building is insured in the Liverpool and London and Globe office for £700, and Mr McGrath has a policy of £200 on his furniture and ffleets with the New Zealand office►■
