Humphreys ; South Star Ledge P.G. E. W Win.' Tho C.S., Bro. C. Fry, read the bal-ance-sheet, winch showed the "Widows and Orphans' Fund to be worth £4941 17s sd, being an increase on last halfyear's figures of £160 los on The Management Fund showed a credit of £21 14s 2d and the Benevolent Fund one of £6 3s. The balance-sheet was unanimously adopted. The following are some interesting particulars of the four lodges which comprise the District: — Motueka Lodge: 214 members; value of Sick and Funeral Fund, £5364 18s , lOd. Good Intention Lodge (Riwaka): 1041 members and £4052 9s Sd. Takaka Lodge: «129 members and £2193 13s 3d. ■South Star Lodge (Dovedale): 71 members and £1559 7s sd. There is also a large sum of money in the Central Funeral Fund of New Zealand, so that there is just about £20,000 in this small district available for the sick and also for the widows and orphans. It shows sound forethought on the part of the members of the lodges, and it is very creditable to the officials, who have for little remuneration looked after the funds in such 3 careful manner. As an example of tho benefit of friendly societies, it may be stated that the Motueka, Lodge paid out in sick pay during 1914 the sum of £473. This is in addition to the funeral payments and widow and orphan benefits. —Own correspondent.
