MEETING OP GENERAL COM-
MITTEE,
The monthly meeting of the general committee of the Nelson A. and P. Association was held at Richmond on Saturday evening, there being present: Messrs Noel Adams (president), ..Thos H. Holland (vice-president), W. R. May (hon. treasurer)- Jno. Hagen, Hayes Croucher Jos. E. Bartlett, G. E. Chisnall, E. W. Winn, H. Ching, T. B. Chisnall, James- Ching, Godfrey Best, F. W.Hamilton, G. W. Best, Noble Win, Ivo TunnicMe, J. W. Hagen, James Hunt, W. D. Harkness, P. Bond, C. H. Ching, Jno. Biggar, Dr. P. 0. Andrew, and J. Glen,(secretary). An apology was received from Mr A. P. Allport, who is absent from Nelson attending the Board of Agriculture meeting at Wellington. An apology was also received for the absence of Mr Jos. Wads worth.
Before the business was proceeded with tho president referred to the loss tho association had suffered by the death of Mr Peter Higgins. Mr Jhliggins w as an ex-pre-sident of the association,, and was at the time of his death a member of the generaj, committee. Mr Aclams said tliat" the late Mr Higgins was not only an old and valued member of the association, but he- was a settler highly esteemed throughout the Waimeas and in the -My. His death was a loss to"the whole distiict, and he moved that a vote of sj mpathy and condolence with the widow and ianiil\ be passed and forwaided to Mrs lliagins. This was carried, the membeis all
standing. The followinc; new members wore elected: Messrs Wilfrid Couzonb, G. L. St' Mid, and Edward Challies. The schedule committee having mot on tho previous Satuiday, the meeting proceeded to consider the- diaft programme submilted. Various additions and a few deletions were made, and one or two matters defericd for Jurther considoiation till next meeting.
Mr 0. C. Wilkinson fMotucka) was appointed to the committee in the place of the late Mr Peter Higgins, Mr Wilkinson having been the highest on the list of the .unsuccessful candidates at the annual election.
At a meeting of the Finance and Ground. Committee-, a draft agreement, with the Defence Department for lease of the Park for military purposes was approved. It was decided to lower the tops'of the pine trees from the stand to the entrance gate to an even height. , Accounts amounting to £3 log were passed for payment.
