Mr W. S. Snodgrass returned from Dunedin on Saturday,, and is much benefited iv health by the trip.
Mr James Hair, district secretary of the A.M..P. Society, returned from a, holiday trip to Australia on Saturday.
A London Press Association cablestates that Mi'.-E. Pollard, of Dunedin, passed th c Institute of Actuaries' examination, second class, part three.
Dr. Hubert A. Washbourii, who is a son of Mr H p. Washbourn of the Port, and a brother of Dr.' H. K. A. Washbourn, of tho Hospital, is at present in Neisoii.
Mi- T. A. H. Field, in response to a largely signed requisition, has consented to become the Reform candidate for the Nelson- seat at the forthcoming election. The announcement was made at a meeting of the Reform League on Friday evening.
The Rev. John Patterson, of Chalmers Church, was advised that a call from St. Paul's, Christchurcn, was posted to him, says a Sydney Press Association telegram. The Post Office failing to deliver the call at Sydney, the Presbytery, after postponing the matter, decided to deal with it in the absence of a call, and Mr. Patterson has accepted the invitation. ' ,
